YONEYA CO., LTD. "SDGs" Declaration

~Seeing others happy is my own joy~

By continuing to make Japanese sweets, I have been able to connect with people.

Let's spread the circle to the next generation and share our joy with the world.

For the joy of the future, we will continue to work towards the SDGs under the motto of "Nagomi."

What are the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)?

The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are international goals that the 2015 member states of the United Nations aim to achieve by 9, which were adopted at the UN Summit held at the UN Headquarters in New York in September 193. They have a common philosophy of "leaving no one behind," and have set 2030 goals with 17 targets to achieve them.

Initiatives for the SDGs

Introduction of wastewater treatment system using activated sludge method

Our second factory discharges approximately 1 tons of water per day, most of which is wastewater from the manufacturing process of 'anko', which contains organic matter such as carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids.
We use a method called the activated sludge method, in which aerobic microorganisms are used to break down organic matter in wastewater by supplying sufficient oxygen, turning the wastewater into clean treated water that is then returned to nature.
The excess sludge resulting from the proliferation of microorganisms is dehydrated and used in agriculture as a nationally approved fertilizer.

● Introduction of gas cogeneration system

The term "cogeneration system" means "producing two things." The system installed at the Second Factory uses gas as fuel to generate electricity and steam within the factory and utilizes them effectively, aiming to make the factory environmentally friendly by reducing CO2 emissions and saving energy.

● Introduction of renewable energy

Solar panels are installed on the roof of the facilities within the Second Factory, and the electricity generated is supplied to and used within the factory facilities.

● Reducing food waste through outlet sales

Once a month, we hold a special sale of non-standard Japanese sweets that are generated on the production line, as part of our efforts to reduce food waste. (Non-standard products: those that are out of shape, have scratches, have excess bean paste spilling out, are of uneven size, etc.)

● Nutrition education activities through confectionery classes

Through the experience of making Japanese sweets, we are carrying out activities to pass on the "culture of Japanese sweets," one of Japan's traditional cultures.

Holding various confectionery classes

In addition, starting in 2022, we will be holding on-site confectionery classes at elementary schools in Narita City.

● Providing a place for lifelong learning by opening gallery facilities to the public

We provide and offer the NAGOMI-YONEYA Sohonten Gallery and Nagomi Gallery Iidacho as places for lifelong learning for local residents.
